Environment-based learning
The classroom environment is a
vital determinant of the range of learning experiences accessible to children. ICT extends the child’s immediate
learning environment, offering opportunities to push learning beyond the
confines of the classroom.
The
subject is Thakor for class two and the topic is plants ( ངོ་ཤིང་) The objective
of the field trip is to identify edible plants of leaves, roots and seeds. I
have taken children in the vegetables garden of nearby farmers where different
vegetables are grown. The main activity for the students are to find out
different vegetables and then categories into three; Leaves, roots and seeds
that we eat.
The reason for taking children outside is to learn practically through environment. Introducing technology alone will not change the teaching and learning process. Therefore, ICT should view as tools to help teachers create more learning-centric learning environments. And also ICT is used to support and bring changes to teaching and learning style.
So,
here teacher and children collectively collects and records the plant or
vegetables and further display the photos of different vegetables that we eat
in the classroom walls.
